Step Two: Outline Assessment Basics

These three questions ensure that we make the purpose of the assessment clear to students and that we are assessing the skill(s) stated in the objective.

What are the individual tasks that students must do?

e.g. Initiate a therapeutic relationship with a client; use social work practice skills; etc.

What will students produce to demonstrate the skill?

e.g. A video of themselves role-playing a client-social worker interaction

What details, info, or parameters do the students need?

e.g.
- A partner to role-play with
- A case scenario for the client
- Software required

What are the learning materials (e.g. journal articles, videos, etc.) needed to understand the context/complete the assignment.

Step Four: Check for Alignment and Measureability

Check off the boxes once reviewing the previous steps.
